Benesse House Museum carries the perfume product of SENSO del MARE at two shops inside the facility.
直島で最初に作られたベネッセアートサイト直島の美術館です。
美術館 / ホテル / ショップ / レストラン / スパから構成されるベネッセハウス ミュージアムは、「自然・建築・アートの共生」をコンセプトに、美術館とホテルが一体となった施設として1992年に開館しました。
This is the first art museum established in Benesse Art Site Naoshima, located on Naoshima Island.
Benesse House Museum, consisting of a museum, hotel, shop, restaurant, and spa, opened in 1992 as a facility that integrates a museum and hotel under the concept of "coexistence of nature, architecture, and art."
館内には収蔵作品に加え、アーティストがその場所のために制作したサイトスペシフィック・ワークが恒久設置されています。
館内は非常に広く、壁や屋外など至るとことに作品が飾られています。館内の床に並べられたリチャード・ロングの流木による作品は、直島の島民の方との共同制作だったりと、直島ならではの作品も存在します。
In addition to the collection pieces, site-specific works created by artists for the location are permanently installed throughout the facility.
The interior of the museum is very spacious, with works displayed on walls and outdoors throughout. There are also works unique to Naoshima, such as the installation by Richard Long composed of driftwood laid out on the museum's floor, which was created in collaboration with local residents.
ホテルでは65の客室とスイートが4つの建物に分かれており、
美術館 / オーバル / パーク / ビーチの建物はすべて安藤忠雄氏によって設計され、全ての客室には独自のデザインとアートワークがあります。
オーバルは丘に設置され、モノレールで美術館に接続されています。パークには、レストランのテラス、スパ、ショップなど、ベネッセハウスの施設の大部分があります。
The hotel is divided into 65 guest rooms and suites across four buildings: Museum, Oval, Park, and Beach, all designed by Tadao Ando, each with its own unique design and artwork.
Oval is set on a hill and connected to the museum by monorail. Park is where most of the facilities, such as the French restaurant Terrace, the spa, and the shop, are housed.
現在では新たな展示施設 -杉本博司ギャラリー 時の回廊- のも加わり、再訪される方にとっても訪れるたびに新しい作品に出会える場所です。
※杉本博司ギャラリー 時の回廊 を鑑賞の際は別途予約、鑑賞料が必要となります。
Nowadays, with the addition of a new exhibition facility called
"Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery:Time Corridors" visitors can encounter new works every time they visit.
Please note that a separate reservation and admission fee are required to view the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery:Time Corridors.

2005年。初めて直島に訪れ、最初に鑑賞した美術館がベネッセハウス ミュージアムであり、人生で初めて鑑賞した現代アートでした。
その時にブルースナウマンの「100生きて死ね」を見て、よくわからないけど惹き込まれる作品だなと感じました。
後になって、作品の意味や点滅の意図を知り、数年後に再訪して長時間座って見たことがありました。
良い映画は何度も見返してしまうのと同様、ベネッセハウス ミュージアムも何度も訪れ、通い続ければ新しい感覚や発見がある美術館だと思っています。
