今年7月、瀬戸内オリーブ基金による初めての子ども合宿
「豊かな島の子ども創作合宿 夏編」が豊島で開催され、
SENSO del MAREも協賛企業として活動を支援いたしました。

香川をはじめ四国各地から集まった小学4〜6年生の子どもたちは、
産業廃棄物の不法投棄跡地や資料館を訪れ、
豊かな自然を取り戻すための植生回復の現場に触れるなど、
2日間にわたり環境学習に取り組みまれました。

幼少期から自然と環境に向き合う体験は、未来を形づくる大切なきっかけ。
私たちも引き続き、この活動を応援してまいります。

私自身、瀬戸内に戻ってきた際、海が昔よりも明らかに美しくなっていることに驚かされました。
豊島事件で戦った島民の方々や、オリーブ基金をはじめとする活動の積み重ねが、
水質や景観を改善へと導いたのだと思います。

いま豊島は美術館の影響もあり、国内外から多くの若い世代が訪れています。
それでも島が汚れることなく、自然や景観に敬意を払いながら楽しむ姿が印象的です。

本来、環境への姿勢を正さなくてはならないのは、大人の私たちでしょう。
SENSO del MAREも、ビジネスとしての実利と環境活動のバランスを取らなくてはなりません。引き続き模索してまいりますので、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

This July, the Setouchi Olive Foundation held its first-ever children’s camp,
“The Creative Summer Camp for Children on the Rich Island,” on Teshima.
SENSO del MARE was honored to support this initiative as a partner company.

Elementary school students from grades 4 to 6, gathered from Kagawa and across Shikoku,
visited the site of past illegal industrial waste dumping and its archive museum,
and experienced first-hand the ongoing efforts of vegetation restoration to bring back the island’s rich natural environment.
Over two days, they engaged deeply in environmental learning.

Opportunities to connect with nature and environmental issues from an early age
are essential in shaping a better future.
We will continue to support initiatives like this,

When I returned to Setouchi, I was struck by how much cleaner the sea had become compared to the past.
The tireless efforts of the islanders who fought through the Teshima incident,
together with the work of the Olive Foundation and others,
have surely contributed to improvements in the water quality and the surrounding landscape.

Today, thanks in part to the presence of the art museum,
Teshima welcomes many visitors from Japan and abroad, especially younger generations.
Yet the island remains unspoiled, with its natural scenery respected and enjoyed by those who come.

Perhaps it is we, the adults, who most need to reconsider our attitudes
and realign our stance toward the environment.
